03/20/2011 Mitrefinch has achieved the prestigious ISO 14001, illustrating its
current and future commitment to minimising environmental impact.
The ISO 14001 is a certification of an environmental management
system, which requires an organisation to manage, measure, improve and
communicate its environmental programme in a more systematic way. Only
those organisations with excellent environmental programmes qualify for
this globally recognised certification.
In order to comply, a rigorous audit was carried out by independent
certification body ISOQAR. Regular subsequent audits will ensure that
environmental standards are maintained and remain an ongoing focus for
the management team, facilitating continual improvement.
One of the primary requirements for certification is to have a
comprehensive list identifying operations that may impact the
environment and taking action to reduce such impact, for example, by
complying with environmental legislation, improving performance and
reducing waste.
IS0 14001 applies to environmental aspects over which an organisation
has control and where it can be expected to have an influence and is
seen as the corner-stone standard of the IS0 14000 series.
